An event space is the perfect canvas on which to unleash the creative juices!
I am an events designer and florist specialising in weddings, events and parties.
I stepped into the world of events almost 10 years ago and haven't looked back since! I have a wealth of experience designing and planning a variety of exciting events including weddings, private parties, press days, corporate events, kids events, summer parties and Christmas parties.
I work with private clients, agencies, event production companies, brides (and grooms!) to create spectacular events that each of my clients remember forever.
There is nothing I love more than receiving an initial brief from a client and being asked to let my imagination run wild.
Helping to design and produce unique, creative events that tick all the boxes, and also come in on budget - is essentially the core objective of my brand.
My design approach features a combination of my threads of experience - stylish decor and beautiful florals sprinkled with a theatrical flair!
Floristry is just another medium in the designer's tool box - but what an incredibly Beautiful, Versatile and Creative medium it is!
I began my design training at Central Saint Martins, the renowned college of Art & Design in Central London. Here I studied design for performance, gaining a foundation degree in the subject - and importantly, a keen interest in set design. I then furthered my studies in Bournemouth at their Arts University, gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree specialising in performance design, including set design and costume design.
My next few years were spent building up my experience in the theatre industry, across the West End. I worked on shows at the Royal Opera House, The New London Theatre and the Vaudeville theatre.
After this I was introduced to the events industry and worked for a number of event agencies, production companies and wedding planning companies over the next set of years, such as Creative Event Design, Plain Jane Events, Scarlet, Invisible Blue, and Boo Productions.
I then started training with a fabulous Dutch florist Brigitte De Wert, who provided my on the job training, specialising in floristry for weddings and special events. I have always admired the art of floristry, when hiring florists for events. So it a wonderfully useful tool to now be able to design and produce floral arrangements myself, as a part of my overall event design, tying the event design and floral design together as a whole.
A wise, old man
(another designer to be specific) once told me you don't get business in this industry by writing letters.
Most of my business is generated through word of mouth, recommendations and prior relationships, built up over the years.
Although I often have a team with me onsite, assisting with the events - I personally handle every enquiry myself. This follows through from the initial design, to all communication, to the final onsite production.
This means you can be secure in the knowledge that your wedding or event will be given
the utmost care, attention to detail and professionalism that my brand, Catherine Zafar, is proud of.
